My Netbook Reflection!

1st writing:

Having my own netbook has really helped me in my learning and work. It has also helped me finish my work faster and in time. Ever since I got my own netbook it changed everything and everything was easier to do. My netbook has also helped at home because I can finish my unfinished work. But it sucks because I only take my netbook home on week days and weekends but not holidays.

Well our school doesn't need to use books any more because we have our own netbooks. Remembering the pain from writing in our books makes me feel glad that we now have a netbook of our own. These netbooks really changed my life and school life especially at home when I’m bored and then I remember that I have my netbook at home so then I go grab it and finish some school work off!

My work has really improved from last year I actually enjoy doing my work alot now!! I really enjoy having my own netbook! I always visit sites that I haven't visited and I sites that I've always wanted to visit and I always keep in contact with my friends at home by going on school gmail and chatting to them.

2nd writing: (Improving)

I have discovered how to use a lot of apps online and I’ve learnt how to post a presentation on my blog all by myself. Having a netbook connected to the internet helped my learning a lot this year. I've learnt heaps on line because we have been researching a lot of stuff on line like we've been researching about Nelson Mandela a lot and I have learnt a lot more about Nelson Mandela then I knew before! I've also researched about MLK (Martin Luther King) and we've been researching different kind of art works for our creative strand this year! On my netbook I have used different math's siteslike xtra maths and maths whizz and it's actually better and it helps me with my maths!

I have learnt a really special thing this year from my teacher and that is how she taught me how look after my netbook properly and carefully and she also tells me to put my netbook in the cupboard before someone just comes and stands on it or something might happen to it! I have learnt how to work apps and do heaps of stuff all by myself online.

Well if I get lost on something and I need help I always think of going to my teacher but then I’m always with my friends and then I just ask them for help and I learn alot of stuff from my friends. I’ve also learnt alot from my dad because he always encourage’s me in doing my work at home and he also taught me how to improve on my work!

I have helped heaps of kids with posting stuff and heaps of other stuff! My key competencies has really grown through using different kind of digital tools.

Christmas Story!

Christmas is nearly here and I’m really excited. At church we always celebrate christmas by getting a money from our savings at church and we always sing christmas songs. My mum and my cousin and I put up our christmas tree and decorated it with different kind of christmas decorations. At our church we also are going to perform a play to show that christmas was the day that Jesus Christ was born! But in our play I am one of the animals. Every christmas my family and I always gather up together at my cousins house and we always do secret santa.

There was this one christmas I think 2 years ago and we went to church to celebrate christmas and our minister of our church calls out our name and then we go get a envelope with money in it. When I went up to get my envelope from our minister and after the whole celebration was done there was a lollie scramble but I was just too excited to see how much money I got. So I quickly opened my envelope and then I counted all of it up and I got $325 because my parents savings goes towards christmas and it comes to ME! I was so happy but my mum told me to give it to her so I only took $20 dollars and gave the rest to her.

R.I.P Paul Walker :(

Hearing the terrible and sad news that Paul Walker died I couldn’t even hold my tears. I thought of all the really great acting he has done and now that he’s gone who would replace him? I was just so curious to know how did he die and why has he gone too soon. I actually hate to hear that he died from a car crash because the whole car burnt down and how would he feel right now? He was like the coolest actor to me and he really made the movie fast and furious more cooler to watch and more famous.

Paul Walker was a great gentlemen. He was always smiling and his acting was really impressive. He changed the world in the movie fast and furious. He is a really humble guy and was so catching to watch! His quote is one of the best quotes, this is his quote “If one day speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling.” This quote made me feel really happy and sad at the same time. It made me happy because he’s in a really better place now and it made me sad because I just can’t believe he’s gone!

All these years, hearing his name was actually the best thing ever, but then hearing that he had passed was kinda like someone in my family passing away. I was actually really shocked because I found out he had passed 3 days after he died. It was heart breaking to hear this and it’s like he’s still here. I am also happy because he’s in gods hands now and probably looking down from heaven protecting there fast and furious crew and his family!

Maths Strategie's Week 5 Term 6. My Top Three Hard Questions.

1. Trevor has to drive 422 km’s. He looks at his odometer and sees he has gone 289 kms. How much further has he got to go?

422kms - 289 = 133

289 + 133 = 422

289 + 1 = 290 + 10 = 300 + 122 = 422

1 + 10 + 122 = 133

2. The shop is selling jandals for $9 a pair.  They have sold $486 worth of jandals so far. How many pairs have they sold?

9 x 10 = 90

90 + 90 + 90 + 90 = 360

360 + 90 = 460

4. The A Softball team has scored 72 goals over the season so far. The is 6 times more than what the B Softball team has scored. How many goals has the B team scored in the season so far?6 x 10 = 60

6 x 2 = 12

60 + 12 = 72

1. Sammie measure the distance from his bedroom door to the lounge and it was 5.2m.  It was an extra 2.9 to the couch. What was the total distance from his bedroom to the couch?

5.2 + 2.9 = 8.1

5.0 + 2.0 = 7.0

.2 + .9 = .1.1

7.0 + 1.1 = 8.1

2. The wooden steps at the back door have fallen apart. The drop from the doorstep to the ground is 1.28m. Tiaki puts a couple of layers of concrete blocks down temporarily to reduce the distance. These layers measure .650m.  What is the drop now?

1.28 + .650 = 1.93

0.28 + 0.65 = 0.93

1.0 + 0.93 = 1.93

3. Teams are allowed up to 14 players in the touch competition. If there are 168 players altogether how many teams are there?

14 x 12 = 168

14 x 10 = 140

Throw Back. (First Day Of School)!

2nd Draft; Shouting, Rushing, Pulling, I was getting ready for my first day at school. My mum was angry at me she couldn’t stop pulling my hair. After all the pulling and shouting we took off to go and check what class I was in. As we walked my mum noticed a family member of ours and said Hi. We carried on walking and we got to the office.

“Hello were here to ask for what class Asena is in?” My mum asked. “Oh yes she is in room 4” The lady replied. So we walked off and we got to my class and I nervously walked in. I really liked my class and my mum and dad were talking with my teacher while I was making some new friends. As I was talking to my new friends my teacher called me to come and meet her. She was very generous and really kind!

My new teacher introduced herself to me and she told me her name was Miss Wild. She was so kind and I really liked her. She was always cheerful and tells really funny jokes and we would always play gotcha! Gotcha was this maths game where the teacher choose’s two students and then she ask’s them a maths question and the person who answer’s firs has to say Gotcha. It was a really fun game.

My first friends were Mele, Aldora and Tyla Marie. They were really laughable and we would always tell each other secrets. We always played together and sit next to each other in class.

I felt really happy at the end because my friends were always by my side and My first day at school was like a dream come true!

What In The Puppet World Is Going On??

What in the Puppet World is going on? Let’s go and find out!

It has been that a number of the amazing Muppets and Sesame Street crew such as Miss Piggy , Cookie Monster, Elmo, Bert, Ernie, Fozzie Bear and Kermit the frog have been surprisingly donated to the National Museum of American History in Washington. Over twenty of Jim Henson’s puppets and props have been donated on the anniversary of Jim Hensons Birthday.

The lovely diva Miss Piggy will be on view for a exhibition in Early 2014 and the other muppets and sesame street characters will be displayed in November. The collection won’t be on display immediately as they need to be repaired in the museum’s conservation lab. The museum’s senior costumes keeper, Suna Park Evan., and executive director of The Jim Henson Legacy, Bonnie Erickson, are working together to make these repairs.

Mahia's Mural. (Maths)

Mahia is an artist. She has been commissioned to paint a mural on wall of a company's warehouse. The company wants the mural to be abstract (not representational) and they want it to show the colours of their company logo. They have specified it needs to have 1/3 blue,  1/6 red, 1/12 yellow, 1/12 white 1/12 purple and 1/4  green. They want it to have 2 lines of symmetry (reflection)  and  a rotating and translating pattern somewhere.

(I don't have a proper line of symmetry because the whites in the wrong place)

My Maths Strategie's Week 9 Term 3!

1. There was a sale an Bunnings. Tom got a picnic table for ⅘  of the price. (He paid $364) He also paid only 2/3 for a set of 2 chairs which saved him $39. His best bargain though was getting 60% off a big table umbrella. The original price was $580. How much money did he spend? How much money did he save?

Answer; I worked it out like this. I did 4 times what? equals 364. I first did 4 times 90 which equals 360 and so 4 was left… Then I did 4 times 1 which equals 4, so now I add 90 to 1 which makes 91 so 91 is one fifth so thats what he saved. He paid ⅔ for the chairs. He saves $39 So the $39 equals ⅓ so ⅔ equals 39 plus 39 equals $78. I had to find 60% of $580 I knew 50% was half of 580 that equals 290. So then I had to find 10% of 580 was so I did 580 divided by 10 equals 58. So he saved 232 and spent 348.

2. Tama had 4/6 of a ham and pineapple pizza left over after his party, 4/3 of a meatlovers pizza and 8/6 of a seafood pizza. How many whole pizzas and slices left over did he have after the party?

Answer; 4/6 equals 1 pizza with 2 slices left. 4/3 equals 1 pizza with 1 slice left. 8/6 equals 1 pizza with two slices left. So the answer is 3 pizza’s with 5 slice left.

3. There were 64 people waiting in the queue for an icecream. ¾  gave up and went away. How many were left?

Answer; Split 64 equals 32, then divide 32 which equals 16, 32 plus 16 equals 48. So 48 people left the queue.

4. There were 32 students at the after school programme. This was  ⅕  of the school roll. How many children go to the school?

Answer; 32 times 5 equals 160, 160 kids go to the after school programme.

5. For every 2 girls at school there are 3 boys. If there are 180 girls how many boys are there?

Answer; 180 divided by 2 equals 90, 90 times 3 equals 270. So 270 boys are there.

6. Sam is wallpapering his house. He has just wallpapered his lounge and this used up 9 rolls or ¾  of the number of rolls he has. How many rolls does he have altogether?

The hallway then takes a further ⅓  of what he had left. How many rolls will he have left for the kitchen? Do you think he will have enough. Explain your answer.

Answer; He used 9 rolls for the lounge which was ¾ because I put 3 in each quater and all together he had 12 rolls. Then he used ⅓ for the entrance because that was how many that was left and there was 1 in each third, so there was half left. So that meant he had 2 rolls left. I think that it won’t be enough for the kitchen because the kitchen is too big and there’s only 2 rolls.

Creative Strand Movie Along With Our Reflection.

We worked really hard at planning our movie and rap. Our storyboard was really good because we explained what we were going to film and draw really well. Well we got pictures from the internet which was kind of stealing so we improved by drawing it on a plain black paper with pastel.

Our message was to show that Sally Ride was the first women in space and I think we actually showed it. Our purpose was to show that Sally Ride was representing her country and she made her country proud. We conveyed really well with our message and we were really proud. I think we achieved a 2 or 3 but maybe next time we could improve and maybe achieve a 4.

Well our filming techniques were alright but it wasn't steady enough. We used different angles like close up and medium shots. The sound quality was really impressing because it really matched with our shots.

Our acting was really good because Roezala (Sally Ride) acted really serious. We showed different kinds of emotions in our movie. Maybe next time we could show more emotions and act our hearts out.

In our movie we had alot of graphics and it conveyed pretty well with our rap. Our timing was also good. The graphics were really detailed and was just the best graphics we’ve ever had in our movie. Our graphics were not traced because we drew it with our own hands.

Our movie flowed really well because our rap was fast but we worked really hard to make our film/graphics suit with our rap. The movie we made connects really well from one scene to another scene.

My group (Asena, Serenity, Britney) known as ASB worked really hard to finish our movie to a high standard. We contributed really well with our rap and also editing our movie. We worked excellently at disagreements because we would just forget about and do something we all want to do. We managed our time really well and finished 1st or 2nd. I think next time we need to add more filming next time to really improve.

Mele And Hope And Piriniha's Love Movie.

Mele & Hope & Piriniha’s movie conveyed really good because it showed different kinds of things and they acted really good. In there movie they used different types of shots to make it more interesting and add more details. There acting was good because it really showed how hard they tried not to laugh or be shy! They also had a really good sound quality.

I think next time they should work a bit more harder on there graphics because it looked like they traced it and I didn’t really get the flow of the movie. It was really confusing!! Maybe next time they could work harder at there filming and maybe talk a little bit louder so we can hear what there saying!!!

Movie Making Reflection.

For our movie we did a friendship love movie and we tried really hard to make the message clear and I think we kinda did. We watched it over and over again and everyone started crowding around us and they said really nice things about our movie. I think we really did great with our movie making and we finished it before everyone on Thursday and uploaded it on Vimeo. We tried our best to do different kind of shooting techniques and I think we did different shots. Our sound quality is really good. Our acting was really impressive and I think its the best acting we’ve ever done!! Our graphics are really unique and its cute. Well we have no animations in our movie. Next time i think we need to work harder at filming still and not being shy when we act and act really serious.

Nelson Mandela And Martin Luther King!

Both Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King had the same dream. There dream was to bring harmony for black and white people and racial equality. They both suffered for trying to carry out there dream and trying there best to make the world fair.

Nelson Mandela was born in July 18th 1918. Back in the days in South Africa the black people couldn't vote and they suffered because the white people had all the power and money. He went to jail for 27 years for opposing the government by making things equal. After getting released he found out that black people can vote and then he became president of South Africa. One of his speech’s was “A LONG WALK TO FREEDOM.”

Martin Luther King was born in January 15 1929. He was a leader in the African civil rights movement. The white people didn't like what Martin Luther King was doing and so the white people decided to find out a way to get him arrested. Martin Luther King wrote a book and he was signing it and apparently got stabbed. He got assassinated in 1968.

These two great men worked so hard just to make their country a better place.. Their dream officially came true in the end. So Martin Luther King once said “I HAD A DREAM”. So in 1968 in April 4 Martin Luther king has passed away and Nelson Mandela is still alive. He is now 95 years old.

Little Red Presentation.

Why is sport so important?

Sports is important because it gets you fit and will help other people that are not happy with their size. In sports there’s a lot of running which can actually help us lose some weight. The sports I like is netball, volleyball and rugby. The reason why I like these sports is because it teaches me new things like different positions and it’s a lot of fun! The only thing I hate about rugby is tackling.

You really get to learn new stuff in sports like for people who haven’t even played sports they might try out for rugby or something and they might learn a new position. In sports it contains rules like in netball for example, if you hold the ball for more then three seconds then that means it’s the other teams ball. In sports you have to warm up before a game. For example you can practice passing or catching or something that you really don’t know how to do. Sometimes sports can be hard for people that have asthma.

The Murder: Part One Of The Three Little Pigs.

“Two greedy, aggressive, lazy pigs, just moved in next door, honey”, said my wife. “And, why do I care again?”, replied the wolf. “I would like for you to go and make some friends. You haven’t been out ever since we got married! Now, please get out of here!”, yelled his wife.



Moaning and groaning, he eventually got outside in the warm and weak sunlight. He stood and gazed at the two little pigs. “Hey!” he shouted, “I am Wolfy, but my name is actually Mr Sweetie. I was wondering if you guys, umm I mean pigs, would like to have dinner?”





Within and instant, they replied, “YES!!!, WE’LL BE THERE”. After receiving such good news, the three little pigs stormed through the doors and got ready for tonight's feast. Finally...





...the bright bold moon rose from the East. Birds surrounded the edge of a cliff. Gray clouds gathered together, as the pouring rain stormed down onto Mr and Mrs Sweetie’s house.





‘Knock, Knock,’ tapped an anonymous, on the front door. In a deep voice they called, “Hello, is there anyone here?”. Quietly and quickly Mrs sweetie answered the door.





“AHHHHHHHHHHH!” she screamed. After 3 cold long hours, Mr sweetie dashed through the door. “Honey I’m home!” he yelled excitedly....but there was no answer. Again he called but still no answer.





Searching for his wife, he found her in the attic. Her limbs were detached apart from her body. So far apart from her body that her guts splattered out of her lower stomach.




With the blood of his love in his hands, he was determined to find who murdered his wife.

John Buying A Creative Picture. (Made Up Story)

The moment John saw the picture, he was suprised of how creative the picture was. This picture has really cool patterns. I haven’t seen these patterns before. Someone drew Monalisa on this picture and it looks realistic and it actually goes with the patterns. So he looked for a while and this lady came and said “Hi! How can I help you?”. 

“Yes how much is for this picture here?” John said excitedly.


“It is $100” The lady replied.


Well the lady was right its expensive because those patterns no one seen before and someone actually drew Monalisa.


“Ok! I’ll come back!” John said crossly.


So John went home crossly because he didn’t have enough money to buy this creative picture.



John actually didn’t go home. He went into his car and opened up his wallet. He only had $70. So John was thinking and thinking. Five minutes from that moment he turned on his car and he went. He went to his sister’s house Alice. Walking up to the door John was nervous because he know his sister doesn’t give him money. So John Knocked on the door and Alice opened the door with an big smile.



“Hi Alice, I just came by to ask if you had $30?” John asked slowly.
“Whats $30 for?” Alice answered.


“Its for this really creative picture, it has Monalisa on it that someone actually drew (Alice loves Monalisa) it also has patterns that no one seen before!” John said rushly.


“Well you know I love Monalisa..... OK! Here you go” Alice said while she was giving John $30.


“Thank you sis!!” John excitedly replied.


John quickly rushed back to the store. They were getting ready to close the store but John ran so fast they let him in. John ran and grapped the picture and went to the same lady that came to him earlier and gave the money to her. When he got back home he hanged the picture up on the wall! “What a day it was!!” John whispered to himself.

My Holidays!

Well I guess my holidays were not cool at all. Every day I would just stay home doing chores. I hate doing chores! Any ways the first week of holidays was maybe a chores week. The last week of holidays was the best week ever. On Wednesday My cousin’s and I went to the sky tower. We just went because it was so boring staying home.

As soon as we got to the sky tower we hopped off and went up the elevator. Getting off the elevator I was so excited. We went down the escalator and met with some of my cousin’s work mates. After talking with my cousin’s work mates we went up to the last level of the sky tower. The last level is level 60! I told my cousin’s that level 60 was the last level but they didn’t believe me. I got very annoyed.

Anyways back to the last level. Getting off the elevator I was so happy. The last level is called “The Sky-Deck.” At the sky deck we had to do this activity but I didn’t want to do it because I was too lazy. Well after all that fun time at the sky deck we went back down to the main level and we got free ice blocks. That really cooled me down because it was really hot.

So it was time to go. I thought we were going to go back home but no we didn’t. We went to the KFC to have a feed. That feed was so nice and nice timing because I’d had no breakfast and I was so hungry. After our feed we went back home and when I got home I went for a nap.
